Pirates & R Bay Starting XIs Announced

Orlando Pirates and Richards Bay have announced their starting lineups for the highly anticipated Betway Premiership match at Orlando Amstel Arena.

Following last night’s results, Pirates cannot afford to drop points, as Mamelodi Sundowns’ win over Orbit College has seen them take the top spot on the league table.

Abdeslam Ouaddou’s men left it late in their previous league clash securing an important late 2-1 win against Polokwane City at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium last Wednesday.

A victory for Pirates would see them potentially return to the summit with three consecutive wins, provided they win by a two-goal margin.

This is the first time these two sides clash in the league this campaign though they did cross paths in the Carling Knockout semi-finals at Moses Mabhida Stadium in 2025.

Pirates were victorious on the day with Tshepang Moremi’s solitary 42nd-minute goal enough to take them through to the final.

Meanwhile, Richards Bay aims to build on their recent win against Kaizer Chiefs, which would move them from ninth to eighth place if they secure a win.

Notably, Bay has only managed one league win away from home this season, against Stellenbosch FC in September.

Historically, Pirates have had the upper hand in this fixture, winning three out of six league meetings, while Bay has one win and two draws.

Here’s how both teams line-up:

Pirates Starting XI: Chaine, Sibisi, Seema, Hotto, Sebelebele, Makhaula, Mbatha, Mofokeng, Appollis, Maswanganyi, Mbuthuma

Subs: Buthelezi, Dansin, Chabatsane, Van Rooyen, Nemtajela, de Jong, Moremi, Ndaba

R Bay Starting XI: Otieno, Mabuya, Mntungwa, Sikhkhane, Mcineka, Mthethwa, Gumede, Mthembu, Mahala, Zikhali, Barns

Subs: Mtshali, Mutizwa, Ngema, Mzobe, Khumalo, Nzama, Tuli
