Kaizer Chiefs defender Zitha Kwinika has weighed in on whether the club’s target of securing a CAF Champions League spot this season is realistic.

Amakhosi competed in the CAF Confederation Cup this campaign but failed to progress beyond the group stages. After returning to continental football following a lengthy absence, the club is eager to qualify again.

Recently, Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr revealed that the club is aiming to finish the season in the top two positions, which would secure a Champions League berth.

The Phefeni Glamour Boys are currently sixth on the table with 30 points from 18 matches.

They will host Durban City on Sunday as they look to move further up the standings.

Kwinika believes that with 12 games remaining, collecting maximum points in most of those fixtures could still see them finish in a Champions League spot.

“I think it’s a realistic target for us, there’s still 12 games to play,” said Kwinika.

“And us getting maximum points in a whole lot of games can give us the opportunity to go back where we want to be which is meeting our target that we set for the season.

“So, it’s realistic and it’s a minimum for us to be honest if we can’t reach that, then it makes things difficult for us.

“The focus is taking each game as it comes and get maximum points as much as we can.”
