Orlando Pirates DStv Diski Challenge side moved three points clear at the top of the log after they were awarded three points from their game against Polokwane City.
On 25 October 2025, Polokwane City ended Pirates’ six-match winning streak, beating them 2-1. Rise and Shine were the first team this season to beat the Buccaneers.

But now, five months down the line, the result of that game has turned into Pirates’ favour after Polokwane City were found guilty of fielding two ineligible players in that match.
“Polokwane City were found guilty of fielding two ineligible players against Orlando Pirates on the 25th of October 2025. The match was awarded to Orlando Pirates with a 3-0 scoreline,” the official account of the league state.
This takes Pirates three points clear of Mamelodi Sundowns at the top with a game in hand. The Buccaneers can now breathe a sigh of relief, as they have moved a step closer to clinching their first ever DDC league title.
But the title challenge is far from over as Pirates are yet to face Kaizer Chiefs, Stellenbosch FC and Mamelodi Sundowns in the second half of the season, with those games potentially having a huge impact in title challenge.
And Sundowns, who have won seven out of their last eight games, also still have the very same teams to play against.
