Benadie Reveals Hunt’s Contract Length

Stellenbosch FC CEO Rob Benadie has confirmed the contract length of Gavin Hunt, who was appointed following Steve Barker’s departure.

The four-time PSL-winning couch took over as head coach after Barker joined Simba SC.

He has since led the team in 13 matches across all competitions, recording four wins, five draws, and four defeats.

Benadie revealed that Hunt is on a short-term deal running until the end of the season, after which both parties will discuss the future.

He added that the club is satisfied with Hunt’s start and will assess the situation at season’s end.

“Gavin’s initial contract is at the end of the season, and then we’ve got options to go forward,” said Benadie.

“I think you know our club well enough, unless we think things are going well, we’re going to back [to him].

“Whether you’re the head coach, the assistant coach, the goalkeeping coach, the analyst, we’re going to try and work with you [if all goes well, we continue].

“Both Gavin, myself and the club, we both said, listen, let’s give it to the end of the season. We’re trying to survive; we’ve got to survive.

“Let’s see how it goes, let’s see if you fit into the club, and if you like it, and if we like you. It’s a good marriage so far. He’s had a good start, let’s hope it continues for a long time.”
