Rele Responds To First Pirates Hat-trick & Team Criticism

Orlando Pirates star player Relebohile Mofokeng has responded to recent criticism the team has faced as well as netting his first hat-trick for the club.

Mofokeng put in a five-star performance for the Buccaneers who ran riot over ten-man TS Galaxy with a 6-0 thrashing at Mbombela Stadium on Sunday.

The Bafana Bafana starlet was the star of the afternoon scoring in the 6th, 53rd and 69th minutes as Pirates moved to the summit of the Betway Premiership standings with eight matches to go. He also walked away with the Man of the Match accolade, his fifth of the season, more than any other player in the PSL this campaign.

Mofokeng, 21, says the criticism after being unable to be clinical in front of goal, particularly in the 1-1 draw against Siwelele FC, fuelled their onslaught.

“I think the criticism is the one that boosts us,” he told OP TV.

“During the week we practised our finishing because it was the one that was lacking in the previous game.

“So, I think we must just improve in front of the goals and that’s what we did.

“I think we must keep on improving, keep on scoring, so I think it will help us end of the season.

“First hat-trick of the team. So, I think I did very well.

“During the week, I was practicing. After training I was staying alone, finishing, so I think I worked hard for this hat-trick.

“I think I’ll keep on working on it, I’ll just have to relax in front of the goals.

“I think I’ll score more goals when I’m composed.”
