Kanu Tips Chippa Star For Bafana Future

Chippa United’s head coach, Vusumuzi Vilakazi, is of the opinion that goalkeeper Dumisani Msibi has considerable potential to become a valuable member of Bafana Bafana.

Despite Msibi’s struggles to establish himself in the Premier Soccer League, having played for Pretoria University, Uthongathi FC, and Durban City before joining Chippa, Vilakazi believes he could play a significant role in the senior national team.

Following a debut for the Chilli Boys against Orlando Pirates, where Msibi conceded two goals in a 2-0 loss, he went on to keep seven consecutive clean sheets in all competitions.

However, a recent dip in form, during which he conceded five goals, some of which were avoidable, likely cost him a place in the national team squad.

Vilakazi acknowledges that these errors may have hindered Msibi’s chances of selection.

“No, I feel there was a stage where they could have considered him, but as I’ve said, in our previous three games, unfortunately, that was towards the selection for the national team, so he was a bit shaky, I must be honest, because he made a few errors in his game,” ‘Kanu’ told the media.

“But it’s our game. We start from the back, we build from the back. So when he does it, it looks nice, but we must also expect that sometimes we’ll make mistakes and we’ll suffer from those.

“But he’s a goalkeeper who in the future, maybe not very soon, but in the future, will have a very serious impact on our national team.”
