Hunt On Facing Sundowns Without On Loan Players

Stellenbosch FC‘s head coach, Gavin Hunt, remains uncertain about the eligibility of loan player Asekho Tiwani to feature against his parent club Mamelodi Sundowns.

Stellies bolstered their squad during the recent transfer window with loan signings of Asekho Tiwani, Tshegofatso Mabasa, and Kobamelo Kodisang, alongside permanent recruits Wonderboy Makhubu, Wayde Jooster, Mosa Lebusa, and Shakeel April.

The Cape Winelands outfit has climbed the league standings and is currently vying for a top-eight finish, buoyed by an eight-match unbeaten streak in the league.

Following their 2-1 victory over Chippa United, the veteran coach was queried about the potential involvement of the Sundowns loan players in the upcoming fixture against their parent club early next month..

“Good question. I don’t know what Rob [Benadie] did. I must check with the CEO. I think Lebusa can play, but the other one can’t [Asekho Tiwani],” Hunt told the media.

“When you play them, you get depleted. You know, that happened to me at Durban City with [Terrence] Mashego as well, the left-back.

“It’s crazy, because we won the league [at Bidvest Wits]. Remember that story when they bought [Sibusiso] Vilakazi and we got the two players, we won the league, and they scored against them, so they changed it, you know, with Cuthbert Malajila and [Mogakolodi] Ngele.

“Great times.”
