Panama Coach Singles Out Bafana Star For Praise

Panama coach Thomas Christiansen has singled out one Bafana Bafana star for special praise ahead of their second international friendly clash on Tuesday.

The two sides are set to meet once again in front of a sold-out crowd at the DHL Stadium in Cape Town, with kick-off scheduled for 19:30.

Their first encounter, which took place on Friday at the Moses Mabhida Stadium, ended in a 1-1 draw, with Bafana Bafana fighting back to equalise after Panama had taken the lead.

Speaking during a pre-match press conference on Monday at the DHL Stadium, the Panama coach was asked to identify which Bafana Bafana players he believes could pose a threat in the upcoming fixture.

While he complimented the South African team as a whole for their quality and organization, he singled out Lyle Foster for individual praise, describing him as a “top” player.

However, Christiansen also pointed out that the Burnley forward needs proper service in attacking areas to be most effective.

“I can tell you about the striker, the wingers, the potential that they have, the good manage of the ball in the midfield,” said Christiansen.

“I don’t like to comment directly on one player, but there are a lot of players important.

“Of course, if you speak about the level in their clubs, then Foster is the top. But he also has to be assisted, and he has good players there.”
