Panama head coach Thomas Christiansen has highly praised several Bafana Bafana players after their second friendly match, singling out Orlando Pirates’ Relebohile Mofokeng.
Bafana wrapped up their international friendlies against Panama with a 2-1 loss which was the first home defeat under Hugo Broos since he took over in May 2021.
Panama proved to be more clinical than Bafana, not creating many chances but converting the few ones they created. In the second match they came out a totally different side, especially defensively.
When Panama coach Thomas Christiansen was asked by iDiski Times which players impressed him from the Bafana side, he singled out Mofokeng before mentioning the likes of Mbekezeli Mbokazi, Bongokuhle Hlongwane, and others.
“The South African side, Mofokeng is a very good player. He can make the difference,” Christiansen told the media.
“He’s fast, technically skilled, and very strong. He has a good view. He can give good passes and as a young player, he’s very important for the future.
“You have [Lyle] Foster up front with experience, midfielders who cover a lot of space, and a good goalkeeper.
“Also, their full-backs are technically strong and good in attack, so you have a good squad.
“Mbokazi, although I didn’t mention him, is a good centre-back with a lot of quality. I could have mentioned more players, but we don’t have much time now.
“Okay, and we also had the player from Minnesota [Bongokuhle Hlongwane], yes, he’s also a good player. Yeah, I can mention everyone.”
