Antalyaspor JPM CT are the 2026 Bayhill U19 Premier Cup champions after beating Mamelodi Sundowns in the final at Athlone Stadium on Monday afternoon.
It was a hard-fought final between the two sides. Antalyaspor, coached by former Mamelodi Sundowns and Bafana Bafana player Gareth Ncaca, were not overawed by their PSL opponents, and gave as good as they got from Raymond Seneo’s Sundowns U19s.
While there was no score in the first half, it was not for a lack of effort, as both teams came close to finding the net.
But ten minutes into the second half, Lwandle Mdingi pounced on a loose pass from the Sundowns defence and showed good composure to find the back of the net.
The young Brazilians pushed for the equaliser, but Antalyaspor held firm, even creating further opportunities for themselves to extend the lead.
Just before full-time, a great chance came for Sundowns, but Junior Maseou’s first-time effort flew over the net.
And when referee Abongile Tom blew his final whistle, Antalyaspor were the winners.
In the Pat Connolly Mid-Section final, 2024 champions Cape Town Spurs beat last year’s finalists Randburg 2-0.
Meanwhile, Rygersdal lifted the Bruyns Plate Section final after a big 4-0 victory over Hout Bay.
