Mamelodi Sundowns recorded their 10th consecutive win in the Betway Premiership with a 2-1 triumph over Durban City at Chatsworth Stadium on Tuesday night.
Tsiki Ntsabeleng netted the decisive first-half goal—his first for the Brazilians.
Sundowns made four changes from their previous match’s starting line-up, bringing in Khuliso Mudau, Khulumani Ndamane, Arthur Sales and Brayan Leon for Zuko Mdunyelwa, Keanu Cupido, Nuno Santos and Iqraam Rayners.
Meanwhile, Trevor Mokoena, Liam De Kock, Kyle Jurgens, Siphiwe Mahlangu and Fezile Gcaba came in to replace Samkelo Maseko, Mfanafuthi Mkhize, Haashim Domingo, Saziso Magawana and Terrence Mashego.
Masandawana asserted early control of the match, dominating possession and keeping Durban City pinned deep inside their own half.
Their pressure paid off in the 10th minute when Tsiki Ntsabeleng netted a goal after a set-up from Aubrey Modiba.
Eight minutes later, Sales missed a golden chance to extend the lead, striking the post with the goal at his mercy after a delivery from Aubrey Modiba.
The match reached the interval with Sundowns leading 1-0.
Masandawana nearly doubled their lead early in the second half, but Leon struck the post after being neatly set up by Adams.
Durban City began to show more intent going forward as they searched for an equaliser, but Sundowns continued to dominate possession while pushing for a second goal.
In the 63rd minute, Siphamandla Ncanana produced a vital block inside the box to deny Leon’s effort from close range.
Masandawana held on until the final whistle, picking up maximum points away from home. They remain at the summit of the standings with 56 points from 23 matches.
