Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Ethan Chislett has spoken about the feedback he received after the recent Soweto Derby against Orlando Pirates, saying it caught him by surprise.
The 3-0 loss to their arch-rivals in February was only Chislett’s second match in the black and gold with his debut having come in the match against Stellenbosch FC days earlier since his signing at the start of the season.

The 28-year-old told Chiefs media department that he was shocked that fans rated his performance good while it took him a bit of time to grasp the occasion that is the Soweto Derby.
“To be honest I was quite shocked because obviously the timing of how everything happened,” said Chislett.
“The Stellenbosch game led into the Soweto derby. So, it’s my second game for Chiefs I had only played 69 odd minutes before that game. So, it was obviously a big step.”
“It was just amazing like people explained to me how big it was, but I don’t think I truly grasped how big the occasion was until I got there, felt the vibe from the fans and staff like that.”
Chislett also revealed that he is in the best condition physically and what he feels he needs to improve on is getting on the score sheet and that’s just a matter of time.
“Physically I’m probably in the best place I’ve been,” added the midfielder.
“I think I’m my own harshest critique so I want to score goals. I’ve always been that type of player that when things start to drop is like a confidence thing almost. So when I start to score I end up scoring more and more goals.
“So, it’s like I just need to start scoring. I’m getting in good positions. I think for me the worrying thing would be if I wasn’t getting into those positions. But I’m getting into the box, I’m arriving late. I think it’s just a matter of time to be honest. I’m patient and I’m enjoying my football.”
