Kruger Utd Back To The Top, CT City Stay Close

Kruger United are back at the summit of the Motsepe Foundation Championship after a massive win away from home, while Cape Town City remained in a playoff spot after beating Upington City away from home.

It was a perfect start of the game from Cape Town City, as Emile Witbooi laid an assist to Dženan Zajmović who made it 1-0 inside first minute. The Bosnian made it two goals in two matches after scoring the winner vs Black Leopards.

City doubled the lead just before half hour mark through Therlo Moosa, following an assist by Jaeden Rhodes. The Citizens managed to hold on to their first half lead and walked away with three massive points.

Down in the Eastern Cape, visitors Kruger United took the lead against Highbury in the 17th minute through Thulani Ndlela. But United couldn’t hold on, as Amajuba equalised in the 26th minute to make it 1-1. They went into the break level.

United led for the second time in the game in the 76th minute through Khetha Ndlovu, and managed to hold on to return to the top of the league table.

Kruger lead the MFC log with 46 points from 24 games, followed by Milford FC who dropped into second place with 44 points after their loss to Gomora United on Saturday, while CT City are third with 43 points.
