A busy Saturday afternoon saw Kruger United extend the gap at the top to five points after Casric Stars, Cape Town City and Hungry Lions all dropped points.
Everything went Kruger’s way this past weekend, starting on Friday afternoon when Casric Stars suffered a shock 2-0 defeat to Black Leopards at home, which dented their title hopes, while Leopards’ hopes of survival remained alive. Stars are nine points behind the number one spot with five games remaining.
Down in Cape Town, it was do or die for both Cape Town City and Hungry Lions, but the two sides shared the spoils, which benefitted Kruger, as it meant that CT City would remain in second place with 44 points, the same as Milford FC and Hungry Lions.
Milford put themselves in the mix as well after coming from a goal down to beat Upington City 3-1 at home.
At the bottom, it’s getting messy for Baroka FC as they remain at the bottom of the league and face Lerumo Lions on Sunday afternoon.
This game could decide Bakgakga’s future in the MFC, as they’re sitting on 18 points after 24 matches, seven points away from safety.
Leopards is fighting tooth and nail to survive as they registered back-to-back wins and they are one point away from safety with five games remaining.
