Kaizer Chiefs defender Inacio Miguel has attributed their previous inconsistent run to them struggling to string together a winning momentum.
The Glamour Boys went on a losing run that stretched over four matches in all competitions, facing an unwanted piece of history, which was the first time they had endured that run since the club was founded.
Amakhosi’s downward spiral began when they were not knocked out of the CAF Confederation Cup, going down 2-1 to Egyptian giants Zamalek, despite topping the group going into the last group stage game.
Another defeat followed when they suffered a 2–1 defeat at home to Stellenbosch FC and then a setback which was a narrow 1–0 defeat away to Richards Bay.
The one loss that really stung was them going down to a 3-0 thrashing by arch-rivals Orlando Pirates in the Soweto derby.
Miguel has since spoken about that difficult moment before they bounced back strongly.
“In the past, our main problem was finding the consistency to establish momentum,” he told the club’s website.
“It’s not about wining one or two games, it’s about putting a run of four, five games, and I think we are now on the right road.
“However, it’s not enough yet. Being at a big club like Kaizer Chiefs, it shouldn’t be a surprise to see a run like this; it should be expected, so we aim to make winning a habit.”
Not Satisfied In Conceding Against Magesi
“I had mixed feelings afterwards, to be honest,” he added.
“Because I am a defender and my main focus is to prevent goals, so although I’m delighted with the result and the four goals we scored, I wasn’t happy that we conceded a goal against Magesi.
“That should not happen, with all due respect to them.”
