Cardoso Gives Update On Leon, Santos & Sales

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso has provided an update on Brayan Leon, who was sidelined for the clash against Richards Bay, while also sharing the latest on Nuno Santos and Arthur Sales.

The Brazilians were held to a 0-0 draw by the Natal Rich Boyz in a Betway Premiership encounter at the uMhlathuze Sports Complex.

Cardoso confirmed that his star striker, Leon, missed the match due to injury.

Meanwhile, Nuno Santos is yet to reach full fitness, and Arthur Sales was forced off in the 23rd minute against Richards Bay with a knock, making way for Monnapule Saleng.

“Look, what is expected is exactly what I spoke about several months ago regarding the schedule that we were being put on,” said Cardoso.

“A team that has to play Champions League up to the end in a country where you have competitions one after the other and for us to please everybody, obviously, it makes us arrive in a moment of the season that we should be in the top conditions to perform, eventually with some losses. So, Brayan got injured.

“And Nuno is not still recovered. Now we lost Arthur, but it’s time for the other ones to show up, rather than for us to complain, it’s what it is. Obviously, it’s not good.

“Let’s hope Bafana Bafana will not lose players throughout and have big losses for the World Cup because that’s what I expect in the next weeks. There’s more injuries to happen.

“Because it’s normal when the teams have to play in three days or seven matches in 21 days, what we expect before the end of the season. Just injuries, injuries. Nothing more.”
