Tashreeq Matthews’ disallowed goal for Mamelodi Sundowns in their draw against Stellenbosch FC should have stood, according to former PSL referee Victor Hlungwani.
The Brazilians were eventually held to a 1-1 stalemate which saw them remain in second place behind Orlando Pirates as the Betway Premiership title charge intensifies with less than five matches left.

Replay clearly shows that ‘Tash’ was indeed onside when he scored the goal as he was played onside by Olisa Ndah.
The decision to flag the goal offside infuriated Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso who was however very was cautious with his words regarding the match officials, though he did admit that the goal should have stood.
Hlungwani has since dissected the incident and is of the notion that referee Thando Ndzandzeka should have given Sundowns the goal because it was legitimate and not offside.
“He there’s an offisde for Tashreeq Matthews. Was it correctly ruled offside?” he said on Soccerzone.
“Olisa Ndah’s leg, did it put Tashreeq Matthews onside? When we draw the line we will see that Olisa Ndah’s leg stretched there, it puts Tashreeq Matthews onside.
“So, this goal was incorrectly ruled offside.
“It’s a good goal in line with the FIFA laws of the game. This is not right [to disallow the goal].”
