Pirates On Brink Of Title As Goals Rain DDC

It was a high scoring Saturday in the DStv Diski Challenge with 21 goals across five fixtures as Orlando Pirates took another huge leap towards their maiden DDC title.

Mpho Padime and Oratile Rantasi netted as the Buccaneers beat Chippa United 2-0. They now need just a draw in their final match to seal the deal but could also be crowned champions if Mamelodi Sundowns fail to beat Kaizer Chiefs on Sunday.

Bucs started the match on high tempo and broke the deadlock through Padime just five minutes in as Thuto Sesipi orchestrated the counterattack before finding Padimw with precision.

Roscoe Krieling’s charges went into the halftime break leading 1-0 and picked up from where they left off in the second period.

Padime turned from scorer to provider as he cut through the Chilli Boys defence before finding Rantasi with a pinpoint cross, who skillfully tapped into the back of the net to make it 2-0 in the 52nd minute.

The title race could either go down to the wire or decided by tomorrow and Masandawana are under pressure to come away with maximum points from their clash with Amakhosi who have blown hot and cold this term.

Pirates are on 72 points after 29 games while Sundowns have tallied 66 points in 28 outings.

Saturday Results:

Stellenbosch 4-0 Marumo Gallants
Durban City 1-3 AmaZulu
Golden Arrows 3-5 Magesi
Siwelele 2-1 Sekhukhune
Chippa United 0-2 Orlando Pirates
