Orlando Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou says it’s fantastic to see Patrick Maswanganyi finish the season strong, adding that the midfielder now gets it.
Tito didn’t have the best of starts to the campaign dealing with injuries and also inconsistencies of starting as a number 10 in Ouadou’s side.
The 28-year-old has however enjoyed a better second round of the campaign where he has also reclaimed his starting place. He scored in Pirates’ last two matches including against troubled Magesi FC in Polokwane on Saturday.
His goal in the 3-0 win over Dikwena tṧa meetse took his goal tally to eight in the Betway Premiership this season while he has recorded just two assists.
Ouaddou told the media after the game that it’s fantastic to see Maswanganyi understand how the coaches wanted him to play since the start of the season.
“I think it’s fantastic for first of all for him, fantastic for the club,” said Ouaddou.
“When you play that position, I think it’s what we expect from him. I’m very proud of him. I think he tried to find now his feet, the intensity that we are asking because the beginning of the season maybe the way that I want to play, a little bit of high intensity.
“But now he gets it. He gets it, he knows exactly the expectation, especially in the position that he’s playing. He can score, he can deliver assists and he’s free.
“He’s very free in that area and he helped the team too much in the control of the ball, especially in the heart of the game. It’s very important to have this kind of player.”
