Bafana’s AFCON Qualifier Group Confirmed

Bafana Bafana have been draw in Group ? for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualification.

The draw for the qualifying groups for the tournament in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania took place in Egypt on Tuesday afternoon.

Overall, 48 teams will participate in the qualifiers, with the draw producing 12 groups, with 24 teams to qualify for the finals.

The top two from each group will qualify, and in groups containing the co-hosts Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania an additional team will qualify.

Hugo Broos’ team were placed in pot 1 and received Guinea, Kenya and Eritrea, making it a meeting with Bafana’s all-time record scorer Benni McCarthy.

With Kenya being one of the co-hosts, three teams from the four in Group D will qualify for the 2027 tournament.

  • Group B: Egypt, Angola, Malawi, South Sudan

  • Group E: DR Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Sierra Leone, Zimbabwe
  • Group F: Burkina Faso, Benin, Mauritania, Central African Republic
  • Group G: Cameroon, Comoros, Namibia, Congo-Brazzaville
  • Group H: Tunisia, Uganda, Libya, Botswana
  • Group I: Algeria, Zambia, Togo, Burundi
  • Group J: Senegal, Mozambique, Sudan, Ethiopia
  • Group K: Mali, Cape Verde, Rwanda, Liberia
  • Group M: Nigeria, Madagascar, Tanzania, Guinea-Bissau
