Kaizer Chiefs Ladies heach coach Unathi Mabena has opened up on their progressive introduction to Gauteng Women’s Provincial League this campaign.

Mabena’s comments come as the Glamour Girls gear up for their fourth league match against Future Stars this coming Sunday where they will also be looking to increase momentum.

Chiefs lost their opening match 2-0 to Mamelodi Sundowns, picked up a 0-0 point against M.U.S.A United and registered their first victory against JVW FC, 2-1, to sit in seventh place on the log with four points.

Meanwhile, their Vaal-based opponents come into the game on the back of two losses.

Mabena was quoted on the club’s website saying she is pleased with how the team is gelling and structure so far. The coach added that as much as they are focused on their own goals, it will be important to respect every opponent including Future Stars.

“We always understood that this process would require patience, consistency and commitment from everyone involved,” said Mabena on www.kaizerchiefs.com.

“What has pleased us is the response from the players after every match. We are seeing improvement in our structure, confidence and decision making.

“Every game is an opportunity for us to continue building the identity of this team. The players are working hard and there is a strong willingness to learn and improve.

“We respect Future Stars because every match in this league is competitive, but our focus remains on continuing our own progress.”
