Newly-crowned CAF Champions League winners Mamelodi Sundowns have extended veteran captain Themba Zwane’s stay for another season, the club confirmed on Friday.
Zwane, 36, has been instrumental in Sundowns’ success over the past seasons as they claimed eight successive Betway Premiership titles as well as other domestic trophies.
Such has been ‘Mshishi’s longevity that he once again played part in the club’s second capture of the CAFCL prize, one of only two players at the club, alongside Denis Onyango, to achieve this feat.
The Bafana Bafana international will also be on the plane to the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the Americas after being named in Hugo Broos’ 26-man squad for the global showpiece getting underway next month.
He has now penned a one-year contract with an option to extend for a further year.
“Our Captain Themba Zwane has signed a new contract, extending his journey with Mamelodi Sundowns 👆,” the club said on X.
“Here’s to writing more history in Yellow! 🏆”
