Orlando Pirates have confirmed yet another exit, adding to the five player departures previously announced by the club.

Ezimnyama Ngenkani had already announced the exits of Bandile Shandu, Sipho Mbule, Tshegofatso Mabasa, Karim Kimvuidi, and Deivi Miguel Vieira (Gilberto).

Now, the Buccaneers have revealed that defender Thabiso Lebitso has also left the club. He joins Stellenbosch FC as part of the swap deal that secured midfielder Mthetheli Mthiyane’s move to Soweto.

Lebitso bids farewell to the Sea Robbers after two successful seasons, despite his time at the club being occasionally hampered by injuries.

“Orlando Pirates Football Club bids farewell to Thabiso Lebitso, who departs the Club after two memorable seasons,” the club announced via a statement.

“Lebitso’s departure comes as part of the agreement that sees Orlando Pirates secure the services of midfielder Mthetheli Mthiyane from Stellenbosch FC, with the hard-working full-back forming part of the player exchange between the two clubs.

“Over the past two seasons, Lebitso contributed to a period of success and growth for the Club. Also providing some memorable moments, such as the goal he scored in the epic 3-2 victory over rivals Kaizer Chiefs in a packed FNB Stadium back in 2024.

“That goal will undoubtedly go down as one of the best Pirates goals in recent history of the Soweto Derby.

“In summarising Thabiso Lebitso’s time with the Mighty Buccaneers, it has been defined by one very important quality – effort. There is no 70&, 80% or 90% when it comes to Lebitso – It’s all in or nothing. In a squad filled with competition and high expectations, very few matched him in this department.

“Orlando Pirates Football Club would like to thank Thabiso for his time with us and wish him well as he embarks on a new chapter in his career.”
