The Glamour Boys further confirmed that Egyptian Mahmoud Abbas, who previously worked at Saudi First Division Al Wehda, as the club’s new assistant coach, while Julien Le Heran will be the club’s new head of sport science.
“Joining him on the bench will be Assistant Coach Mahmoud Abbas, a 35-year-old Egyptian with vast experience who will add further depth to the technical team.
“The sports science portfolio will come under the direction of Julien Le Heran, who was also born in France.”
The latter previously worked for the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, AS Vita Club, En Avant Guingamp Women, the Haiti Women’s National Team and FC Nantes Women.
Delayed Da Cruz Arrival
Chiefs further confirmed the club’s squad will return to training on Thursday already, but new head coach Da Cruz will only join them in “under a fortnight”. The new assistant coach will guide the training initially.
“The squad returns to training on Thursday 18 June, with the assistant-coach overseeing baseline preparations before Da Cruz’s arrival in just under a fortnight’s time,” the club added.
“On his arrival, the coach will use the few days before a pre-season camp to evaluate the team and its progress.
“The team will leave for the training camp shortly afterwards where the coaches will get more time to familiarise themselves with the players and ensure that they are ready for the challenging season ahead.”
The club’s management also stated “more announcements will follow”.
