Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has made a defiant statement ahead of facing the Czech Republic in their second 2026 FIFA World Cup match.
Both Bafana and Czechia lost their opening matches of the tournament and will be aiming to bounce back as they look to keep their hopes of advancing to the next round alive.
Bafana and coach Broos have faced fierce criticism for their performance in the opening match, with the tactician heavily blamed for his tactical approach, the formation used, and leaving several key players on the bench.
The two sides will face off on Thursday at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in the USA, with kick-off scheduled for 18:00.
Broos insists they will be a “totally different and a better team” when they line up against the European side on Thursday.
“After Mexico, we started to prepare for the game against Czechia, a total different opponents than Mexico,” said Broos, as per SuperSport TV.
“This is a tough physical team, so you have to try to do something else. We have good trainings, we tried some things – some things were good, some things were bad.
“And now it’s up to me to analyse that and put a team on the pitch that will be totally different. I don’t doubt that we will be totally different, our game will be better.
“We will do our best, 100% fight for it 90 minutes and see what the result will be. But again, I’m confident, we will see tomorrow.”
