AmaZulu FC have completed the signing of former Kaizer Chiefs youngster Omega Mdaka from Stellenbosch FC, as previously reported by this publication.
At Usuthu, the 22-year old reunites with Arthur Zwane who coached him during his days at Naturena.
Mdaka was released by Chiefs before Stellies snatched him up, and he became a regular feature under Steve Barker. In 2024/25, he made 17 appearances for Stellies, mainly off the bench, while in 2025/27 he featured 34 times for the club.
However, he has now completed a move to KwaZulu-Natal, with his former club announcing his departure.
“Stellenbosch FC has bid farewell to defender Omega Mdaka, who has completed a permanent transfer to AmaZulu FC,” Stellenbosch stated.
“Mdaka joined the Maroons in 2024 and enjoyed a goalscoring debut against Nszingizini Hotspurs in the CAF Confederation Cup, before going on to make 51 appearances for the Club across all competitions.
“During his spell in the Winelands, the 22-year-old helped Stellenbosch FC reach back-to-back MTN8 finals, and he was nominated for the Club’s Young Player of the Season award in 2026.
“Everyone at Stellenbosch FC thanks Omega for his contributions and wishes him every success in the next chapter of his career.”
