Three-time CAF Champions League-winning coach Pitso Mosimane is understood to be in the driving seat to take charge of the Bafana Bafana job with Hugo Broos rumored to be leaving.

iDiski Times have it on good authority that Mosimane is the leading candidate to take charge of the national team after the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

This publication also established that Morena Ramoreboli could be added into Mosimane’s technical team and could be appointed as assistant coach.

‘Jingles’ has been without a coaching job for over a year after leaving Esteghlal FC, mainly focussing on his Pitso Mosimane Soccer Schools youth program and club.

The 61-year old has seen it all at club level, having won three CAF Champions League titles – one with Mamelodi Sundowns and two with Al Ahly SC. His trophy cabinet is also loaded with league titles from his stints with Sundowns and SuperSport United.

Meanwhile, Ramoreboli also has international experience, having led Jwaneng Galaxy in the CAF Champions League and is currently in charge of the Botswana national team.

SAFA are expected to make a final decision regarding Broos in the coming weeks, as they will be preparing for the upcoming AFCON qualifiers, with Danny Jordaan confirming they will assess Bafana’s performances at World Cup and then meet Broos to talk about his future.

Broos has lifted South Africa when it comes to football after qualifying for back-to-back Africa Cup of Nations before leading Bafana to their first FIFA World Cup in 16 years, where they reached the knockout stages of the tournament for the very first time in the history.
