Renowned football agent Mike Makaab has given an update on Sipho Mbule’s surprise move to Iraq after his exit from Orlando Pirates.

Mbule, 28, was released by Pirates at the end of last month, with the Buccaneers opting against renewing his contract.

The ‘Master Chef’ had signed a year’s deal with the Buccaneers that included an option but the club did not activate the extension clause when his contract ended in June, making him a free agent.

Mbule, who has been haunted by allegations of off-field disciplinary issues, featured 21 times for Pirates across all competitions last season and scored just one goal coming in the Nedbank Cup.

Later, Zakho SC announced the signing of the 28-year-old as the club’s latest arrival who will turn out for the Iraqi Stars Football League outfit next season. Last season, Zakho SC finished in ninth position in the 20-team league.

The ProSport International boss has since taken to his X account to confirm that Mbule has safely touched down in Iraq as he starts a new chapter in his football journey.

“Sipho Mbule has just arrived safely in Iraq to begin a new chapter in his career,” he said.
