Kaizer Chiefs new signing Renaldo Leaner has opened up about his move to the club ahead of the 2026/27 season.

The 28-year-old joined Amakhosi on a free transfer after parting ways with Sekhukhune United at the end of his contract in June.

He had been with Babina Noko since 2023, having joined the club after Maritzburg United were relegated to the second tier.

Leaner said he had always wanted to play for Amakhosi and revealed that he chose the move as soon as the opportunity arose.

He also praised the facilities at Naturena, describing them as world-class, and said he is looking forward to getting on the pitch.

“I have always wanted to play for Chiefs, so when I became a free agent after my contract expired with my previous club, I chose to join Kaizer Chiefs,” said Leaner as per the club’s website.

“Actually, my first time at the Village in Naturena was when I went to sign for Chiefs.

“I was amazed and impressed by what I saw when they took me on a tour of the facilities.

“It made me even more eager to start because everything is here to make a world-class training base.”
