Relebohile Mofokeng and his new club Royale Union St. Gilloise will face Bodo/Glimt in the third qualifying round for the 2026/27 UEFA Champions League season, while Aden McCarthy and Gift Links also learnt their opponents.
Mofokeng, 21, made his RUSG debut in a friendly match against Dutch giants PSV on Saturday, setting up his side’s third goal in a 20-minute cameo.
As Belgian runners-up, RUSG enter the Champions League in the third qualifying round, with the draw taking place in Nyon on Monday.
RUSG will have to overcome FK Bodo/Glimt, who made headlines during last season’s UCL campaign after qualifying for the knockout stages following shock wins over Manchester City (3-1) and Atlético Madrid (2-1).
They then went on to eliminate Serie A giants Inter Milan 5-2 on aggregate in the knockout phase playoffs, and won their first Last 16 leg 3-0 over Sporting. However, their brilliant campaign ended after the Portuguese giants forced extra-time in the second leg and beat them 5-3 on aggregate.
Should the Belgian giants make it through, they will still need to get past the playoff round in order to book their ticket in the Champions League league phase. The first leg games will be played on 4/5 August, while the second legs will take place on 11 August.
Meanwhile, Aden McCarthy’s Sabah could face fellow South African Gift Links with his Danish side Aarhus Gymnastikforening in the third qualifying round, should both win their second qualifying round clashes.
Sabah are facing Finish club KuPS, while AGF will face Lech Poznan from Poland – the second round ties are played on 21 and 29 July.
Last but not least, Mihlali Mayambela and his side Omonia will face Kazakhstan side Kairat in the second qualifying round. If Omonia were to make it through, they would then meet the winners of the tie between Levski Sofia and Craiova in the third qualifying round.
The 10 winners of the third qualifying round, plus Celtic, AEK Athens, LASK and Viking will enter the playoff round draw, set to take place on 3 August.
