Kaizer Chiefs head coach Fernando Da Cruz has reflected on the club’s pre-season camp in Spain, as well as the friendly matches that formed part of their preparations for the 2026/27 campaign.
Chiefs recently returned to South Africa after facing three opponents outside the country as part of their preparations for the new campaign.
Amakhosi began the tour with a 1-1 draw against Scottish giants Rangers, followed by another 1-1 stalemate against Saudi Pro League side Al Kholood, before ending their schedule with a narrow 2-1 defeat to La Liga outfit Elche CF.
Although Chiefs did not record a victory during the tour, Da Cruz believes the team showed competitiveness throughout the three matches and made positive strides ahead of the new season.
“The conditions at the training camp were very good despite the extreme heat, which affected us in playing three games in the short space of six days,” said Da Cruz, as per the Chiefs website.
“Nevertheless, we were competitive in these matches against high-level teams, which gave us valuable insights to learn from.
“The attitude and team spirit were excellent, and we have made good progress in our preparations.”
