Kaizer Chiefs‘ DStv Diski Challenge side saw off Lesotho Premier League outfit Lifofane FC 3-1 in a friendly match at Setsoto Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The biggest talking point of the match was that of Mduduzi Shabalala who was part of the traveling squad to the neighbouring country.

Despite traveling to Spain with the first team, he missed most of the pre-season tour due to injury and his inclusion in the DDC squad was merely to speed up his fitness with the Betway Premiership already underway.

Another player that was also a notable inclusion is Rushwin Dortley’s 17-year-old brother, Emile, who has of late turned heads in the Gauteng Development League for the young Amakhosi. His performances have not gone unnoticed after being elevated to the reserve side ahead of the upcoming campaign.

Donay Jansen, Kamogelo Malefo and Benjamin Eliyahu found the back of the net for Chiefs while former Amakhosi defender Kgotso Moleko netted the consolation for the hosts.

Chiefs Starting XI:

  • Takalani Mazhamba
  • Leshate Morwaswi
  • Emile Dortley
  • Egan Freese
  • Kamogelo Malefo
  • Matala Makhubu
  • Pheko Phago
  • Mduduzi Shabalala
  • Steven Mendes
  • Imaad Hendricks
  • Donay Jansen

Chiefs Bench:

  • Naphtali Mokoena
  • Karabo Modikwe
  • Teboho Mlangeni
  • Benjamin Eliyahu
  • Siphelele Mtshare
  • Kgopotso Mashilwane
  • Keitumetse Lasia
  • Lefa Ngwana
  • Oarabile Moeti
  • Bokamoso Mokokosi

While Lifofane finished the 2025/26 campaign in second position, five points adrift of champions Lijabatho in the Lesotho Premier League, Chiefs’ DDC side failed to defend their reserve league title finishing in a low fourth spot.
