Kaizer Chiefs head coach Fernando Da Cruz has hailed the performance of new signing Langelihle Phili in his side’s 1-1 draw with Mamelodi Sundowns.
Phili opened his account for the club, making it 1-0 at FNB Stadium and celebrated wildly in what many thought would be the winner.
But Cassius Mailula came off the bench to equalise. Nevertheless, Da Cruz was proud of the performance of Phili and his squad overall.
“We signed Phili to make this type of performance,” he said on SuperSport TV.
“He’s a very good player but he needs time to understand our game model.
“But I’m very proud of our team because we had three games in six days, the players were amazing today.
“I’m very proud of the squad.”
The draw saw Amakhosi stay on top of the log with seven points from three games, level with AmaZulu but ahead on goal difference.
