Kaizer Chiefs winger Langelihle Phili has brimmed with pride an excellent overall showing in their tense 1-1 draw against Mamelodi Sundowns this past weekend.

Phili, 21, only just joined the Glamour Boys earlier this month but has already played a pivotal role in the club’s good league form.

The former Stellenbosch FC speedster picked up the Man of the Match accolade in the 2-0 win over Sekhukhune United before netting the opener in their hard-fought stalemate against Masandawana.

Chiefs currently sit second on the Betway Premiership standings on the same number of points (7) with defending champions Orlando Pirates, and Phili could not hide his excitement having gotten his Amakhosi career off to a flying start.

“Obviously, being at such a great football institution as Kaizer Chiefs you want to play in the big games, so being able to play and score against Mamelodi Sundowns, the African champions, was huge for me, as could be seen from my celebration,” he said on the club’s official website.

“Still, my overriding aim is to help the team in any way possible. In order to maintain my form consistently I must just keep listening to the coach and the technical team, learning from my teammates and just keep trying hard every day to become a better version of myself.

“It’s the best feeling ever to be loved by supporters. When I arrived at the Club my priority was to earn the love of the fans. I’ll keep on trying to please them through maximum effort, which is something they appreciate.”
