The venue change for next week’s Betway Premiership clash between Kaizer Chiefs and Siwelele has been confirmed.

The match was originally scheduled for Royal Bafokeng Stadium in the North West on 5 September. However, Moses Mabhida Stadium has confirmed on its social media page that it will now host the encounter.

The iconic Durban venue, which hosted matches during the 2010 FIFA World Cup, has not staged a match this season as it underwent renovations. The Chiefs-Siwelele clash will therefore mark its reopening.

Chiefs’ recent fixture against Richards Bay, which was initially expected to be played at Moses Mabhida Stadium, was instead moved to Princess Magogo Stadium after the municipality and the club opted not to rush the venue back into use.

Moses Mabhida will have a busy schedule following its reopening. Durban City will host Rukinzo FC in the first leg of their CAF Confederation Cup first preliminary round tie.

A week later, AmaZulu will welcome Marumo Gallants at the Durban venue.
