The 2026/27 DStv Diski Challenge campaign gets underway on Saturday, 26 September, with main focus on the Soweto Derby between Soweto rivals Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs.
Pirates enjoyed a successful end to the 2025/26 season by being crowned champions on the final day of the season, beating Mamelodi Sundowns 2-0 for their first DDC title since the inception of the reserve league.
Roscoe Krieling’s charges also sent records tumbling as they finished the campaign on 75 points, lost just three matches the entire season with four draws and an impressive win of 24.
Amakhosi on the other hand, who were the 2024/25 champions, could only finish in fourth place after losing a core of their players last season.
The defending champions Pirates have a streak of six wins in a row but they’ve been struggling to beat Chiefs in the last three years. The Buccaneers last won against Amakhosi in 2023, since then they’ve lost five matches and one ended in a draw.
Chiefs on the other hand will aim to redeem themselves after a lukewarm previous season where they finished in fourth place with 49 points – 26 points behind Pirates. But the young Glamour Boys will aim to continue with their hoodoo over their Soweto rivals at Princess Magogo Stadium.
