Bafana Bafana attacking midfielder Themba Zwane has broken into the African Cup of Nations Golden Boot race after netting a brace against Namibia.
Equatorial Guinea captain Emilio Nsue and Algerian talisman Baghdad Bounedjah are the top goalscorers in the AFCON after match-day two, as they are both sitting on three goals.
Nsue netted a hat-trick in his side’s 4-2 win over Guinea-Bissau, becoming the oldest player to net a treble in AFCON history, while netted once in Algeria’s 1-1 with Angola and twice in 2-2 draw with Burkina Faso.
Zwane is one of seven players right behind the Equatorial Guinea and Algeria stars after netting a brance against the Brave Warriors in Sunday’s 4-0 thrashing.
The Sundowns midfielder is level with the likes of Ghana forward Mohamed Kudus and Burkina Faso captain Bertrand Traore, who both ply their trade in the Premier League.
The 34-year-old Bafana midfielder will have a chance to increase his tally when Bafana face 2004 AFCON champions Tunisia in their final Group E match on Tuesday.
