Bafana Bafana midfielder Teboho Mokoena has revealed two teams he’s looking forward to see at the upcoming AFCON.
The continental tournament is set to be staged in Morocco, beginning on 21 December 2025 and concluding on 18 January 2026.
Mokoena is part of the Bafana squad seeking to leave their mark in this edition once again, following a third-place finish at the previous tournament in Ivory Coast.
The Mamelodi Sundowns star says what makes the tournament interesting is “unpredictability”, highlighting how the so-called small teams are also rising to the occasion.
Mokoena says he is eager to see how heavyweights such as Senegal and Egypt perform, given their recent successes and star-studded squads.
Interestingly, Egypt have been drawn in the same group as Bafana, with the two sides set to meet in their second group match on 26 December.
“It showcases the richness of African football, bringing together diverse playing styles and cultures,” Mokoena told Puma.
“The tournament often features thrilling matches, passionate fans, and emerging talent.
“The unpredictability of the tournament also means that underdog teams can surprise.
“I’m particularly excited to see how teams like Senegal and Egypt perform, given their recent successes and star players.”
Mokoena also revealed which football shoe he currently prefers, saying he will wear the PUMA FUTURE 9 at AFCON.
“The PUMA FUTURE 9 is sleek and modern, with a striking colour palette that stands out on the pitch,” he added.
“The fit feels snug yet comfortable, allowing for great movement, and the weight is impressively light, enhancing agility without sacrificing stability.
“They provide the support and traction I need to execute quick turns and sprints, while also allowing me to express my creativity with confidence.”
