Nigeria have suffered a blow around star striker Victor Osimhen ahead of their Africa Cup of Nations semi-final with Bafana Bafana.
Osimhen, 25, has started all five games for Nigeria at the AFCON so far, scoring once and setting up two more.
The reigning African Footballer of the Year is one of the key players in Jose Peseiro’s squad but he’s suffered from an “abdominal discomfort” and initially didn’t travel with his team.
“Members of the team traveled from Abidjan to Bouaké today via a 10pm Air Cote D’Ivoire flight,” read a statement.
“Osimhen did not however make the trip as a result of an abdominal discomfort. Team medics confirmed that he has been placed under close watch with a member of the medical team staying behind in Abidjan with him.
“If cleared by tomorrow morning, he will join the rest of the squad before 5pm.”
Overall, Osimhen has scored 20 goals in 27 appearances for the Super Eagles.
Nigeria will face Bafana in their semi-final in Bouaké on Wednesday.
