CAF have announced the official 2023 Africa Cup of Nations Team of the Tournament and two South Africans were included.
In what was billed as the greatest-ever AFCON, hosts Ivory Coast were crowned champions in a fairytale comeback 2-1 win over Nigeria in Sunday’s final. It was also a memorable tournament for Bafana Bafana, as they finished third, their best achievement in 24 years.
Bafana captain Ronwen Williams was named Goalkeeper of the tournament, while Nigerian captain William Troost-Ekong was named player of the tournament. Equatorial Guinea’s  Emilio Nsue won the Golden Boot for his five goals.
Williams and Teboho Mokoena were included in the official Team of the Tournament by CAF, while Khuliso Mudau, who was widely tipped to make it, missed out.
