Former Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane has expressed his delight at Amajita lifting the U20 Africa Cup of Nations.
SA’s U20 beat Morocco in Sunday’s final thanks to a goal by Gomolemo Kekana, which was assisted by goalkeeper Fletcher Smythe-Lowe.
Amajita won the U20 AFCON for the first time after taking revenge for the 1-0 defeat to Morocco in the 1997 final, which was their only other final appearance.
The result sent raptures through the South African football fraternity, with Mosimane among those who praised Raymond Mdaka and his team.
“SA U20, conquering Africa,” he wrote on social media.
“Again it is not the first time we are experiencing all these! We are the Champs of Africa.
“What a period in our life that SA are experiencing all these good achievements.”
