Cameroon captain Vincent Aboubakar has spiced up tonight’s Africa Cup of Nations semi-final against Egypt, saying Pharaohs and Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah does not impress him that much.
The two African giants will play for a chance to meet Senegal in Sunday’s final, after the Teranga Lions beat Burkino Faso 3-1 in Wednesday’s semi.
Now Aboubakar has added fuel to the fire ahead of the clash, which will see Egypt assistant coach Roger De Sa not be on the sidelines after his four-match suspension by CAF, by saying he doesn’t really rate Salah as highly as others do.
“He doesn’t impress me much,” Aboubakar was quoted as saying by RFI.
“I say it clearly because I’m an honest person and I have my way of seeing things. If he impressed me, I would say so. But he doesn’t impress me much.
“He’s a good player, he scores a lot but he doesn’t produce a lot of stuff in the game.
“Of course, he’s doing good stuff in the Premier League because he’s been in a team that’s been there for years.
“He’s a good player but not at the level of some like Mbappé.”
Aboubakar is currently the leading goalscorer at the tournament with six goals, while Salah has netted twice for Egypt so far.
