COSAFA Cup U20 champions Amajita have five representatives in the 2026 Cosafa U20 Best XI, with coach Raymond Mdaka named as the coach of the tournament.
South Africa successfully defended their crown for the third year in a row after after defeating Mozambique 2-1 in the final on Sunday.
Their success also means that Mdaka’s side have qualified for the 2027 U20 AFCON that will be hosted in Ghana, which is another showpiece they will be going to as defending champions after winning it in Egypt last year.
The COSAFA U20 team of the tournament have goalkeeper Takalani Mazhamba who kept three clean sheets and conceded three goals which were all in the knockout stages. Cayden Fortune and Egan Freese formed part of the defence as they played a massive role in the SA U20 championship.
Captain Lazola Maku who has been pulling the strings for Amajita in the middle and won one Man of the Match award in the tournament, also made the best XI of the COSAFA Cup.
Steven Mendes who had a stellar COSAFA Cup campaign netting six goals and won the top goalscorer award is also named in the best 2026 U20 COSAFA Cup team.
Amajita touched down in Mzansi this morning as champions.
