Barker Guides Simba To Another Win

South African tactician Steve Barker guided Simba SC to a thumping 3-1 victory over Namungo FC in the Tanzanian Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

The Reds of Msimbazi narrowed the gap on league leaders and rivals Young Africans SC to just five points after matchday 19.

Since making the switch to Tanzania from Stellenbosch FC in December 2025, Barker has already twice achieved individual success.

He was named Coach of the Month for March – bagging the award back-to-back after doing the same in February.

The former AmaZulu mentor had a good run in March, winning three games and drawing two, managing to keep the pressure on Yanga at the summit.

On Sunday, Barker’s charges bagged yet another win on the road to stretch their unbeaten run to eight matches on the trot.

The visitors drew first blood via Libasse Guèye’s 12th minute strike before Anicet Oura added the second in the 25th minute.

Heritier Makambo pulled one back for the hosts in the 34th minute but in-form marksman Elie Mpanzu put the cherry on the cake in the 74th minute for the all-important away win.

The South African duo of defender Rushine de Reuck and midfielder Neo Maema also played part in the match with the former starting and Maema being introduced in the second stanza.
