Benni McCarthy’s Kenya picked up a 3-0 win over Grenada in the 2026 FIFA Series on Monday.
The FIFA Series brings together national teams from the different confederations that would not normally compete against one another.
Kenya are taking part in a FIFA Series hosted by Rwanda, having lost their first match against Estonia 5-4 on penalties on Friday after the game had ended 1-1 inside 90 minutes.
The 127th-ranked European minnows progressed to the final of the Series, facing Rwanda, who had beaten Grenada 4-0.
Meanwhile, the Harambee Stars and Grenada, who are 164th in the FIFA ranking, faced off in somewhat of a third-place playoff match.
Austin Odhiambo gave Kenya an early lead after 13 minutes, before Ryan Ogam doubled the advantage just five minutes later. Zech Obiero added to the score-line late in the second half, making it 3-0 in the 81st minute.
Polokwane City’s Brian Bwire came on as a 61st minute substitute, while Richards Bay Ian Otieno did not feature in the match despite McCarthy making 10 substitutions.
The win marks McCarthy’s seventh in 17 games as Kenya head coach, having lost seven while drawing three.
Kenya might still be disappointed of having missed out on the final of the FIFA Series, as they entered the four-team mini tournament as highest-ranked nation in 112th position, following by Estonia in 127, Rwanda in 129 and Grenada in 164.
