Billiat Announces Massive U-Turn

Former Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Khama Billiat has announced a u-turn from his decision to retire from international football.

The 34-year-old found new live after joining Yadah FC in his home country following his exit from Naturena.

Billiat won the Player of the Month honour in the Zimbabwean top-flight for Yadah last month after scoring three goals and one assist over the period – as he looks to rekindle that form that once had him ranked as one of the finest talents on the continent.

The Zimbabwe international won all on offer during his five years at Sundowns under Pitso Mosimane, who lured him to the club from Ajax Cape Town back in 2013 before he then joined Kaizer Chiefs after the expiry of his contract.

But he never replicated that sort of collective success at Amakhosi and eventually parted ways with the club at the end of last season before returning to his homeland, with a surprising move to minnows, Yadah – who are 13th in the 18-team division at present.

However, despite his new club perhaps not performing as well as expected, on a personal level Billiat has been doing well and is the joint-leading goalscorer in the Castle Premier League with 10 goals.

He has now also announced the decision to return on his decision to retire from international football and stated he is available for the Warriors squad.

The 34-year-old has made 51 appearances for the Warriors, scoring 15 goals, with his last official match dating back to November 2021.

Zimbabwe face Kenya and Cameroon in the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and Billiat has now also been added to Michale Nees’ squad after he wasn’t included in the initial selection.
