CAF Make Important CAFCL Announcement

The Confederation of African Football have confirmed the draw for the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup group stages will take place on 3 November.

Four South African teams are currently trying to book their ticket for the group stages, with Mamelodi Sundowns looking all set after beating Remo Stars 5-1 away from home.

While last year’s CAFCL runners-up look to have done the business in the first leg of their second preliminary round, becoming the first SA team to win in Nigeria, Orlando Pirates have a mountain to climb.

Last year’s semi-finalists lost 3-0 away from home at St. Eloi Lupopo and need to score at least three unanswered goals to take the tie to penalties.

Meanwhile, both Kaizer Chiefs and Stellenbosch FC collected goalless draws away from home at AS Simba and FC 14 de Agosto Guinea, respectively.

Last season, three of the four South African teams made it to the group stages, with Sekhukhune United dropping out in the preliminary rounds.

All teams who will qualify for the 2025/26 edition will cast their eyes onto Johannesburg on 3 November, when the draw for this year’s group stages will take place.

The draws will be held at the studios of CAF Broadcast partner SuperSport in Johannesburg, South Africa from 13h00 local time.
