CAF Makes SA U17 2025 AFCON Announcement

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) have confirmed that South Africa’s U17 side, Amajimbos, will partake at this year’s TotalEnergies CAF Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations.

After initially missing out on booking a spot for the continental showpiece, after going down to defending champions Zambia in the semis, South Africa has now been included after CAF expanded the number of teams from 12 to 16.

On Thursday, there was a deliberation on who will join Zambia and Angola to represent the COSAFA region, and it came down to points tally at the 2024 COSAFA tournament where South Africa finished with nine points while Zimbabwe accumulated just four.

Vela Khumalo’s charges were deemed the third best team at the regional finals and earn their spot for the 2025 CAF U17 Africa Cup of Nations which will be held in Morocco from 30 March – 19 April 2025.

Once the draw for the 2025 CAF U17 Africa Cup of Nations is conducted, South Africa will then know their fate in which group they will be placed in.
