Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Khalil Ben Youssef says they quickly had to forget about the Nedbank Cup Last 32 exit and shift focus to the CAF Confederation Cup clash against Egyptian side Al-Masry.
The reigning champions were eliminated from the Nedbank Cup last 32 by Stellenbosch FC, and Amakhosi now have only two trophies to fight for which are CAFCC and Betway Premiership but they will need to double the effort if they are to win them.
They could find themselves in the quarter-finals this afternoon with a 1-0 win or a win by a two-goal margin against Al Masry. Co-coach Ben Youssef emphasized that they don’t have time to sit and think about previous results, as games come thick and fast.
“I think the Nedbank Cup was one of our targets for this season. We were playing for the Nedbank Cup, the league, and CAFCC,” Khalil told the media.
“For us, a lot of the time we are playing every three days, so we don’t have time to enjoy or take a lot of time to be sad or uncomfortable.
“It’s resilient; it’s part of football. I think in the last press conference, we discussed the Nedbank Cup game. Now we are focused only on the CAF game tomorrow.
“We have a big game, so we have to think only about this game. Everything that’s passed is done; we can change nothing. But now we are focused only on the next game.”
