The COSAFA Executive Committee has announced they will endorse Dr. Patrice Motsepe to run for a second stint as Confederation of African Football president.
Motsepe was elected unopposed as CAF president in 2021, becoming the seventh president of African football.

As his four-year term is drawing to conclusion in 2025, CAF con look back at a major turn-around, with Motsepe having the steadied the confederation’s financial state, increased prize money in all the competitions, and signed multi-million dollar TV deals.
The 2023 Africa Cup of Nations has been seen as a major success, and delivered over 1.4 billion cumulative TV viewers, according to Nielsen.
With things going well under Motsepe he is expected to stand for a second term next year and has now been endorsed by COSAFA. Â
“The Executive Committee of COSAFA deliberated on various matters, amongst which included the upcoming CAF Elections in 2025,” the Council of Southern Africa Football Associations stated.
“Given the tremendous achievements made in turning around the fortunes of CAF, restoring the prestige of CAF competitions and enhancing the integrity of CAF, the Executive Committee of COSAFA unanimously supports the nomination of Dr Patrice Motsepe for a second term of office.
“It was henceforth agreed that the endorsement of Dr Motsepe should be tabled at the next meeting of the COSAFA General Assembly for ratification.”
